What am I looking for in my server?
Basically, I want a web server with email capabilities. I want it to be simple to setup. I must be able to use dyndns with this setup. I'll use any version of ubuntu server.
What I've tried so far:
Webmin/Virtualmin/Usermin (http://webmin.com/):
It's great and it works with a bit of tweaking, but it's way overkill for what I need. I've installed it successfully, worked out the Ubuntu bugs and what not, but it really just isn't for me.
ebox (http://ebox-platform.com/):
I installed it and took it off in one fell swoop. It looked real nice, but I felt like I wasn't sure of what I was doing half the time. Not for lack of knowledge, but because I wasn't sure where this that or the other thing was located as well as it doesn't manage apache.
What I've looked at, but haven't tried:
ispCP (http://www.isp-control.net/):
It's still in development, but I used the demo and it's one of the MOST polished web control panels I've ever tried. I'd like to give it a shot, but because it's still not production ready i'm not sure. I'm also unsure of where it's at in development and if it handles email correctly or not
citadel (http://www.citadel.org/doku.php/doku.php?id=start):
Now I've seen this product in action and it's sweet. I really would like to give it a shot, but I'm not sure if it handles dyndns or not. It would be great for me because at uni we work on a multitude of group based projects so having this at my disposal would be a sweet way to get everyone on the same page.
If anyone has any suggestions on what they've used or tried or whatever I would appreciate them letting me know. Up until now I've managed 3 sites by just doing everything by hand. I haven't added any emails to any of them in the past and that is something that I would like to do. As such my experience with postfix or fetchmail is limited beyond belief. So anyone have any suggestions?
