View Full Version : [ubuntu] Need a panel menu
May 23rd, 2008, 08:57 PM
I need a new panel menu that "looks" different from the standard menu bar or the main menu. I have tried the gnome-panel-menu package but found it useless. Can someone provide me the link for Linux Mint's menu for Hardy Heron (I had it in Gutsy, the package is called iriemenu) or the link to USP (Ubuntu System Panel) for hardy?

you can also try out dmenu, which is the default for Firebox WM. The best part is that its extremely lightweight.

Here's a screenshot of the dmenu, I was talking about. Looks really cool.
and some write up on the WM itself.

You can also use myGtkMenu.
I'm using firebox and it's ok.
It has two Dmenu Alt-p menu and an ALT-s dmenu.
I use the myGtkMenu for sub-menus for my ALT-S menu and it works great.
But if all you need is a different menu from the standard menu bar or the main menu.
myGtkMenu will work - all you need is an icon or launcher to start it.
you can have as many of them as you need.
ADD:you can add dmenu to any WM --i think
