View Full Version : [ubuntu] lost battery, network and pidgin icons next to clock

May 23rd, 2008, 05:22 PM

I wanted to remove an icon from the menu bar on the top of my screen, I right clicked and selected remove from panel. Apparentely I clicked at the wrong position, and all icons to the left of the clock in the top menu bar disappeared.

Anybody knows how I get them back?

Go to the add to panel Dialog and add 'notification area' to the panel. That should get them back.

Right click on panel then click "Add to panel" then scroll the list to "Notification Area" and add it.

Thanks, that was it. The notification area came back but only contained the battery icon, it required a restart of pidgin to get that icon back and a restart of the computer to get the network icon back (there may be some other way but I couldn't find one quickly)
