I have a P3, 1.1GHz, 320Mb RAM, Intel i815GEW MB desktop and am trying to install PCLinuxOS on this. When I boot from the LiveCD, it boots ok but at the end I get a garbled screen with all sorts of colors and cant do anything, not even login as I cant see any option. Even Alt+F1 or Alt+Backspace don;t seem to do anything. Tried all the modes but none works. The live CD works on other computer. So can;t I install PCLinuxOS on this one?
Please advice.

The beauty of a live disk is that it allows you to test hardware compatabilty without affecting the current OS on the hard drive. If one distro doen't work to your satisfaction, download and try a different one.
I, personally prefer sidux. I feel it is simple to install & maintain. CLI use is required, but there are less than ten commands needed for basic useage
sidux.com/ (http://sidux.com/)
If you decide to try it, download the KDE lite version, It is about 450Mb.

What graphics hardware do you have? Did you try booting into safe graphics mode?
