View Full Version : [ubuntu] Oh Ubuntu, What Have You Done...Cannot Play Audio Cd Anymore

Is anyone else experiencing this. Banshyee sees the CD, but refuses to play it. CD Player behaves the same.
I just did the 23 file upgrade today....not certain if that is the problem at all.
Any feedback would be appreciated. This is truly annoying!!!

I'm having the same problem. Never happened before Hardy.
GRIP doesn't recognize that a CD is in the drive. Neither does Amarok, Serpentine, etc.
Kaffeine recognizes the disc--it even displays the song list--but it won't play and gives me an error message about "install-codecs" crashing.
Oddly enough, K3B won't display track listings, but it will copy the disc just fine.
If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

For what it's worth, I cold booted the box and the problem has gone away (for now ?????). Really an odd thing though for what should be a simple process.
