Hi,
I am totally new to this operating system and I am finding that I cannot load the drivers for my wireless internet connection.
It is an Edimax 1eee 802.11g.Turbo Mode USB adapter.
I have the installation disc but it does not want to open.
Without this I cannot access the internet, any ideas please.

Total noob I see. That's okay everyone is a noob at some point.
Firstly, the drivers you have are probably not for Linux. Very few components come with Linux drivers.
Secondly, Linux itself has difficulty with USB 2.0 (high speed) USB devices. A simple fix for this is to disable USB 2.0 (high speed) from your BIOS.
Good Luck!
PS I hope you know how to change setting in BIOS.
