I'm running 6.04 and I want to use http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Human+After+All?content=72956
that theme. I download it and save it in a good place. But when I click "Install" on the theme menu and select the theme, I'm told that the file format is invalid.
I'm sure theres something [big] I'm missing here so can anyone help a noob out?

that is an emerald theme.
are you trying to install through the default gnome appearance?
If you are, install emerald
sudo apt-get install emerald
then from preferences, go to emerald theme manager. from there you will be able to select and use that beryl emerald theme.

If he/she is really on Dapper, then there's no Emerald in the repos.
HpZ, did really mean 6.04 or rather 8.04?

all you have to do is go to www.gnome-look.org look under gtk2.x themes and pick one you like.
it will download to your desktop.
menu > system > preferences > appearance
drag and drop the theme you downloaded into the window.
you do the same thing for icons ^^
You won't be able to install the emerald themes without emerald theme manager. Stick with gtk2.x.
