changing bg color in bluefish

I've been using bluefish for html / php / css but I prefer the look of terminal apps (black bg), even gedit allows this but I can't seem to find it as an option anywhere in bluefish. Am I missing something?

I could be wrong but it seems like you can't. You may want to file an enhancement request for bluefish.

That's planned for the 1.1 release when it comes. If you want the functionality now then you can download and install the unstable version from the CVS repository. It should be reasonably stable right now, although if you want to use features that are under development you may have to switch them on during ./configure.
