So last night I tried to install 8.04 and it failed quit badly. It told me to clean my DVD drive or something (I don't remember) so I quit the installation and Windows was gone (obviously). So today I found an old Ubuntu 6 boot CD. This one works fine and I've got this one installed on my PC.
EDIT: Okay, thanks to those who helped. I just re-installed Ubuntu and that seemed to get rid of most problems. But I'd still like to know how to update Firefox to its latest version. Any help with that?

6.06 is pretty old :-), but it should be like this, sort of...
1. To change themes go to System > Preferences > Appearance (or "Theme" maybe)
2. If there are any updates available, you'll see an icon in your system tray telling you about it.
3. There is an ubuntu version of limewire. It should end with a .deb (as opposed to windows's .exe). It is available at limewire's site.
4. Depends on what you want. Most programs --if that's what you're looking for, anyway-- are available for download through Applications > Add/Remove. There's lots of stuff in there.
For anything else, there's plenty of help in the forums. If you have any doubts, try the search function. If that fails, you could always google for something like "ubuntuforums my problem" and you'd probably get an answer.
Cheers.

don't forget that 6.06 is an lts release and is still supported, so using it is fine ;)
and tbh, for downlaoding google utorrent, run it with wine, and then go to the priate bay ;)

Okay thanks, I'm trying to change the theme but I get this error message "The default theme schemas could not be found on your system. This means that you probably don't have metacity installed, or that your gconf is configured incorrectly". Anyhelp on that?

Anyone got any news on the "Admin Password 6.06" error? I googled it and found that I should go to the terminal, edit a line of code and save it, though it does not allow me to save the file as it is "read only" Halp?

I tried that and reset the password to the only account but it still fails to work. I'm thinking of just installing Linux again. Though I don't want to do that. Anyone else know what to do?
Also: any news on updating firefox?
