View Full Version : [ubuntu] Screensaver doesn't work
May 22nd, 2008, 05:25 AM
I'm running Hardy and whenever my computer goes to the screensaver, all I get is a black screen. Sometimes I can see the cursor and most of the time I can't.
If I got to System | Preferences | Screensaver, the screensaver preferences dialog box hangs and doesn't allow me to change any preferences.
What should I do?

There are several bugs regarding screensaver in hardy using various graphics cards...ATI and Nvidia. Most seem to be resolved after recent updates. Perahps try running:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

Thanks. Unfortunately Updating didn't help.
After a few minutes, when the screensaver should come on, the screen goes dark. When I hit a key or move the mouse, the mouse is visible and moves around the screen, but the mouse if the one thing visible. The rest of the screen is black.
