Has anyone tried to capture the video from a Motorola DCT-6412 via the FireWire port? I am about to embark on this endeavour tomorrow and was wondering if someone might know of some of the problems I'll be coming up against.

I did it using windows and a D-VHS capture program.

Now I have ditched the "w" stuff, and I am getting tired of the quality I get from an analog capture card.

Capturing video from a firewire camera is easy, things get complicated with a set top box.

The last thing I found, is that to achieve this, not any firewire card will play nice with the Motorola's DCT box.

Then the initialization of the firewire port was crucial in order to start pulling stream.

Here a thread:

I am interested on getting this resolved.
