I often wish that Myth had a GUI for Gnome. That is I primarily use my Myth box as a streaming server. However often I would like to burn DVDs and using the myth frontend gui is painful.

Additionally it would be nice to have a good GUI for configuring the capture cards, again the myth GUI is lacking.

Also I have a Media MVP which I use VLC to transcode video from MPEG4 to MPEG2 to stream (since Myth can not transcode to MPEG2 currently). Thus it would be nice to have a symoblic link to TV recordings which actually have the recording name rather than cryptic numbers.

Thanks

Check out mythtvfs

mythtvfs implements a human-readable filesystem on top of an existing
MythTV tree. It communicates with the MythTV backend to fill in the
recording details, so that recordings can be browsed easily with applications
that do not natively communicate with MythTV backends.
