Hello everyone
Just wondering if there is a media converter or mover converter for Ubuntu. If anyone one knows and where I can download it from it will be much appreciated :)

by the way, have you installed the video and audio codecs yet? because what you cant read, you cant convert. you'll still need the codecs you asked about in your previous post

The ABOVE Will give you everything you need for ffmpeg . Your errors you posted earlier showed you did not have x.264 installed. Follow the instructions on the link above and you will be on your way. I encode to MP4 using the below:
ffmpeg -i INPUT.mov -acodec libfaac -ac 2 -ab 128k -vcodec libx264 -vpre hq -wpredp 0 -s 1280x720 -crf 24 -threads 0 OUTPUT.mp4just change the file type for the input if using another format

For converting AVI to DVD I use ManDVD or Devede both of these program's are specifically designed for this purpose and are very easy to use. For converting DVD to AVI there are a number of programs that can do this including Acidrip,Handbrake,Dvdrip and many other's. Not to mention there are Command line option's as well that are more complex but offer more feature's like Ffmpeg and Mencoder.

HandBrake does not do AVI output. It supports mp4 and mkv only.
