Wubi with a "build-essential" install problem?

I just got Wubi on my laptop with XP? I tried to install the basic "build-essential" to compile basic programs, but it doesn't work. Anyone have any suggestions??

What exactly "doesn't work"? Do you get an error when installing the package? Does it install ok, but the compile of the other program doesn't run?

I figured it out. It installed just fine using the Synaptic Package Manager in System > Administration, rather than installing the build-essential through a terminal. Thanks
