Well I currently have Windows Vista, and XP on separate drives.
Windows Vista is starting to fail, its been acting up allot lately.
Since I mainly use Windows for Java programing on some game emulators (Private Server) I make, I have decided to switch to Linux, and use it for Java programing, and an entertainment center.
Now I still want to keep Windows XP on a separate hard drive just in case I would like to go back to some online games I used to play, and for other simple reasons.
But most of the games I play work in Wine, and Linux.

So, I want to install Ubuntu on my 40GB hard drive, and Windows XP on my 20GB hard drive.
And dual boot them.

How would I do this?

Thanks

assuming that windows xp is already on the 20 GB drive all you need to do is pop in the CD and during install when you are prompted for where to install tell it to us "full disk" and select the 40 GB disk. Ubuntu unlike windows is smart enough and nice enough to set up the dual boot for you. Nothing else you have to do at the point except sit and let it complete the install. Its a lot easier than it used to be.

Install XP first. It's probably easiest if the disk you want XP on comes up as your C:\ drive.

Once XP is happily installed, install Ubuntu. It should find XP and add it to the Grub menu, allowing you to select either OS on boot.

Oh, that's simple. Thanks.
I've used Ubuntu before, but allot of stuff I was doing at the time did not work with it.
But now I'll keep it.

After this, I got to re-setup my home network... lol.

Thanks.

I think you will find that ubuntu has made a lot of progress since you last used it. Compatibility has gone up a lot recently.

Yes 7.10 and 8.04 will both do this.
