I can't get Ubuntu (8.04) to recognize my LG SATA DVD-RW drive. It detects my IDE DVD-ROM drive just fine and my SATA hard drive. Also my USB CD-RW drive works just fine, but I would like to have my DVD burner back. The BIOS detects it so I know it is connected properly. Also the tray ejects and the activity light comes on. When I go to Computer however, only the DVD-ROM and USB CD-RW are listed. Is there something special I have to do to enable SATA DVD-RW drives?

Thanks.

Hi!, try installing some software that is related to ELBYCDio (clone dvd) or pattin-couffin (blind write), which are "recognizers" of different read drivers such as your dvd burner.

please don't thank me for the quick reply!
