Which ubuntu version should i install
Im basically installing a machine for my g.f mate, it has a AMD atherlon @ 800mhz, and about 384 RAM sdram @ 100mhz, and 128 mb geforce 5200

and was wondering which to go for Ubuntu, kbuntu or xbuntu

I need the machine to be the easy as possible to use as she isnt very good on the comp! Speed isnt that important, but it cant be dog slow!!

Im think ubuntu, any ideas?

i would go for xubuntu, as it is a little faster on older machines.

It should run either of those 3 choices, though it is a little lite on the ram side of things, xubuntu I guess would be the best choice considering the amount of ram you have to deal with. If you can get the ram up to 512mb or more then I prefer regular Ubuntu (gnome desktop).

Is xbuntu still stupid user proof!?!

I go with the same choice as wolfen said. Xubuntu is definately an os that doesn't use so many system resources.

Sadly this RAM is already "long term borrowed from work", the pc only has 3 dimm slots, and 128mb is all i can get my hands on at work......
I think it is going to have to be xbuntu!
