View Full Version : [ubuntu] Inspiron 1525 webcam video needs some help

I haven't found any webcam application that works with my Inspiron 1525 (Dual boot Vista, vista installed at Dell) except Cheese. Cheese works OK for photos, except that it consistently crashes if I try to record video. Occasionally I can record a short video, but usually it crashes or the quality is really terrible. Camorama does not function at all. I'm just looking for any application that does the webcam video correctly, or how to fix Cheese or Camorama whatever. I am not yet an Ubuntu geek, still a n00b so just looking for whatever is the easiest solution to get up and running. Another thing I'm looking for is something like iMovie which can edit videos. I tried Kino and kdenlive but neither one can even open the AVI videos from the my Canon Powershot SX100 IS (these videos play fine in VlC, Mplayer etc.) If anyone can help me with any of these points that would be great and I will be happy to pass on the knowlege given the chance.

You may have to work with the settings > Open Ekiga > Edit > Preferences > Video > Video Devices > try changing some of the settings.( Video Plugin if it shows V4L change to V4L2) if working with the settings does not work or help.
Post the results of the command > lsusb
