Hello everyone.... i am currently a new user to ubuntu, i currently have an xps laptop with an external lcd... what my problem is, is that i am trying to get my laptop moniter to turn off when i am using my lcd.. because i have my laptop in my keyboard roll out and so sort of have a desktop set up. I cant figure out how only use the lcd...

i have tried code : xrandr --output VGA --auto --output LVDS --off

and that doesnt do anything

even when i put xrandr --output LVDS --off

nothing happens...

the video card i am running is : ATI Technologies Inc RV350 [Mobility Radeon 9600 M10]

Just try Fn+F8 on the keyboard to how it switched displays... click that more than once and maybe it will turn off if it does not the first time...

NOTE: Fn+F8 might not be your specific key combonation.. although it is mine on my M1530. Look on the keyboard for "CRT/LCD"

tried that, all it did was flash the lcd black and then it came back, did nothing to the laptop monito.r

should i have any other drivers or anything installed on my comp?

Did you install the restricted driver?

if your asking if i enabled my video card. yes. I get a notification about it. Take a look at the link, its an attatched image to a screen shot. See if that is what you are talking about. if not please explain
