I did a search, and didn't find anything that seemed relevant. Please redirect me if I've missed the applicable discussion.

OK - I finally broke down and upgraded to Hardy Heron. I should have read more first, as I assumed that it was going to make Firefox 3 available as an option, not force me to use it.

I have tried installing Firefox 2 & 3 side-by-side, as well as un-installing FF3 completely. In either case, I can't get FF2 to let me re-enable extensions that FF3 hosed. Can't install updates (or new extensions) into FF2 either.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to fix this? Ideally, I want to get FF2 working again like it was before the upgrade. Couldn't care less about whether FF3 works or not, as I don't particularly care to use it. Especially not until TabMix Plus works with it. (Don't really like FF3 anyway, but that's a different issue)

Thanks for any assistance/pointers.

I just found this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=784628. It seems to be in the right direction, so I 'm going to "pile on" to it.

You might need to try FF2 with a new profile, then migrate across any bookmarks that you need and re-install extensions.

Have a look at http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=4970622&postcount=2 as well.

Thanks Cato. I've started working on that just in case... but I really dislike having to copy/paste stuff from prefs.js w/my fingers crossed. :)

I agree with your other post... someone needs to carefully consider "cutting edge" vs "bleeding edge" when deciding which packages to include.
