ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.0rc1/linux-i686/en-US/firefox-3.0rc1.tar.bz2
It is released and it runs faster, at least for me :)
I hope it will be backported in Hardy soon ...

That thread tells me nothing! They just announced that it's out and speculate that it MAY come out soon.

Some say that it won't come, but it's coming soon:

I don't understand where all this assuming and misinformation is coming from but yes, RC1 will be done soon. (I have confirmed with our FF maintainer, Alexander Sack)
(Definitely not today, as most of the ubuntu-mozillateam is in sessions at the Ubuntu Developer Summit, please be patient.)

I used the launch pad installation and the only side effect is that my links in Thunderbird will not load to destination, does anybody have an answer to this.

Firefox 3.0 RC1 will not need to be backported. The Ubuntu Mozilla team will update the Firefox package sometime after the Ubuntu Developers Summit, which ends on Friday.

Nice thing about that is that it won't interfere with Firefox 3.0 (when it comes out) because it's rebranded.

I was able to fix the hyper link problem in Thunderbird through the configuration editor in Thunderbird with the second post of this thread.

I just updated my desktop via the Launchpad down load of the latest FF 3 release not yet in the Hardy repositories with no problems, and have all the add ons, plugins, and bookmarks in the latest release. So here is the link to the blog which gives the instructions for the Launch pad download.

So We are definitely beyond RC1. Apperantly word was that after the conference there would be an RC1 in the repos. Now that RC2 is out, and we are approaching a weekend, how long to you think it will be for RC2 to hit the repos, or should I just sit back and wait for Ibex?

All needed information is in the thread that I redirected You at the beginning; that is here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=797212. Look especially at this post: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=5108051&postcount=223. We just have to wait for final Fx3 release.
