have just mounted /media/winshare but if i try to chgrp to stdusers(the group i want) it gives error "Operation not permitted"

current owner/group is root and even if I sudo su and try it gives same error.

Any ideas of how I can do this?

Am using feisty. and it is a fat32 drive

Fat32 does not have any understanding of owner/group.

Please do the following and post the results

cat /etc/fstab
and
ls -l /media
