My Screen Resolution won't go higher than 800x600!!!

Please help me.

I'm on a laptop made by Everex.

It's really hard trying to look up *anything* when you viewing in 800x600 so please help me find a fix.

Thanks.

Hi there. Sorry to hear about your woes.

Would you mind attaching the contents on your xorg.conf file.

You can open it from the terminal using the command:

gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf for Ubuntu or:

kate /etc/X11/xorg.conf for Kubuntu.

Also can you try running the following command from the terminal:

lspci -v | less

Look for a device called VGA Compatible COntroller and post the name of it.

# xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file)
#
# This file was generated by failsafeDexconf, using
# values from the debconf database and some overrides to use vesa mode.
#
# You should use dexconf or another such tool for creating a "real" xorg.conf
# For example:
# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

^^Some of the stuff above might be what I tried to change by following a web page about sorting out Ubuntu screen resolution. It didn't work tho.
