Can't install Canon Printer in Gutsy

I am unable to get a Canon Pixma ip4500 to print in Gutsy. I tried to install through Synaptic which recognized my printer (USB). But when I hit the test page icon, the printer shoots out a sheet of paper, but prints nothing. What did I do wrong or not do?

I don't have that printer but I found this Canon PIXMA iP4500 support in Gutsy (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=592235) which may or may not help.
