I'm in the same boat. I'm trying to find the 2.6.12-9-686 source (non-smp) and was having difficulties. However, no one seems to know as I have yet to get a response to my thread.

Well the answer for you is to open Synaptic>clk search>input 'tree' and you'll find it.. Ya won't find smp kernel but you will find the one your looking for...
