Do you know if Jahshaka is in ubuntu studio repos.
I've tried all the other video editors in Linux and I'm not to impressed with them. So I'm looking for a distro that has jahshaka to try it out.

You should just install jahshaka on ubuntu, and also try out cinelerra. Close your eyes when it crashes.

I would install jahshaka on ubuntu if it came with some instructions and a download for Linux. I can't make head nor tail of the down loads in sourcforge.

Yes Cinelerra does seem to crash a lot just at the wrong time.
pity it's not in a deb format (hint, hint for anyone at ubuntu reading this).

Jahshaka has gone through a major overhaul and its devs asked it not be put in yet. This will be something that is revisited for Intrepid though.

I have cinelerra stable by compiling it myself. The other sources made it crash or missed OpenGL.

You might check Blender VSE.

If its simple video editing you are after blender may do the trick. Ive only had a few crashes but only editing short vids.

Little tutorial : http://eugenia.gnomefiles.org/2008/04/20/video-editing-with-blender/

It doesn't have quite the learning curve or power of cineralla (from my limited experience).

kdenlive is another simple option (but much easier then blender and cineralla), it crashed a bit last time iused it but that was a good 12months ago http://www.kdenlive.org/
