Videos hardly play...

I have installed all the required codecs and no matter what media player i use, video files will only work if i open the file twice and play both of them at the same time..

anyone know how to fix this?

Hi there! I just DIY a buntu box 2 weeks ago but thanks to this wonderful forums and a bit of luck my box is running 8.04LTS rather well for my liking! Had a similiar problem and this thread solved it!

Look at part 4/5 ...setting VLC as default plater for DVDs worked great!

Install Restricted Formats. If you are using Ubuntu Hardy or Gutsy

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras
