So, if anyone is reading my other thread about consoles, you might notice something, and that is im considering a console so that I can play sports games, mainly NHL 2008.

What might eliminate this whole mess is if I can play NHL and Madden on ubuntu. Has anyone had any luck with wine? The winedb lists madden as gold, but nhl2008 as garbage (athough it also doesnt seem to be maintained, and the last wine version it was tried with was pretty old). I cant find a demo around to try it out. Does anyone know if it would work? And if so, well?

I know EA has talked about getting cider support for the mac, which would allow cedega to handle them too, but since that big anouncement, I have heard nothing. Any thoughts?

So, I obtained a copy of NHL2008, it installed fine. Game wont launch...oh well. If I start the .exe, it loads the wine desktop, but the game itself never launches, just sits at the blue background.

maybe I'll play around with it a little more

I'd be interested to know if you were ever able to get NHL08 working before I go out and buy it.
