Whenever I open up Rhythmbox, an error message pops up and reads
"Unable to activate plugin Portable Players - iPod"
I want to use Rhythmbox to manage my iPod in ubuntu cause its the easier than most other things I've tried. Alternatively, if anyone has any suggestions for another iPod management method (I've tried gtkpod, Amarok, and Banshee, all of which I found either too complicated or not quite streamlined enough for my liking) I'm open to that as well. I liked Rhythmbox because of the ease of use of the drag and drop for adding songs and simple removal of songs as well. Thanks much in advance.

If you haven't already, check to see if the plugin is activated. Go to edit> plugins and make sure "portable players- ipod" is checked. If it is, try unchecking it, then restarting rhythmbox and checking the box again.

This may be related to an issue I am having with rhythmbox. I get an error for Jamendo and Magnatune Store. Unable to activate those plugins, even though they are not checked. I just click close, because I don't want or need those plugins. Seems like a bug, perhaps.

Yea, whenever I go into the plugin menu and try to check the box for the ipod plugin the same error message pops up when Rhythmbox initially opens :(
