Very low wifi bitrate with 8.04

Hello, I recently installed a clean copy of 8.04 and everything is working fine except for my wifi. I have a broadcom card using the b43 drivers and this worked fine with 7.10, however with hardy, the card is only able to achieve a bitrate with the wireless network of 1-5 Mb/s. This is despite the fact that the signal quality is in the range of 75%-100%. It can connect to the network fine and authenticate with wpa2 but for some reason the bitrate is always very low, does anyone have any ideas at what could be the problem?
