Hi, I have installed Ubuntu through wubi & after getting various things working the way I want.
I went to the top to remove the Evolution icon. I think I right clicked & removed panel. Now the is no panel at the top. I can select things through Awn, but there is no off button at the top right.
Please help. I don't want to have to re-install.

easily fixed, you have a bottom panel still right?

Right click on your bottom panel and select "New Panel". Drag that to the top.
You'll have to re-add each item though, which you can do by right clicking on your new and using "Add to panel".

I don't seem to have a bottom or a top panel. I made the desktop like a mac with the icons at the bottom. I have Firefox, Desktop & Awn.

if you ever find yourself stuck with some weird situation.
Create a new user. The new user will have panels and menus. etc...
That happened to me once, could not load the gnome desktop, claimed it was a serious error. etc,,,
Everyone has their own user space. The file system is separate, so if the user space gets messed up, you can boot into a new user space and perhaps fix it or get the files out that you need.
To start up file manager with super user priv, just type at terminal prompt
sudo nautilus
