It loads.. but my screen is white and black and basically squares.
My graphics card has its drivers.
What seems to be the problem with it?

more info, like what video card & drivers you have...
also, posting this in the Gaming & Leisure section prolly would have been more appropriate...

I have the Intel 965 chipset and the drivers are installed. Compiz works etc.. and I can play other games.. for example, OpenArena

I'm not certain that an Intel 965 will run Doom3.

Is there any other good games, like doom 3 for linux (which is free).
I already have openarena..
Also, how do I uninstall doom 3? I installed it from a .run file
Thanks

there should be a uninstall script in /usr/local/games/doom3-demo/

i'm pretty sure it will. i used to run doom3 on a intel 845g integrated chip. i'm not saying that the performance good with these chips, but it was certainly playable. (with all the graphics settings set to the lowest settings).

I couldn't even reach the settings as I could not see what I was doing :(

The best thing to do is install a new graphics card. Try an nvidia 7300gt, not the fastest, but it will play doom 3 no problem, even at medium/low settings. Plus, it should cost you no more than $50. Onboard graphics are terrible for gaming, especially ATI, who dont support linux very well. Go with nvidia, good drivers, good support.

ironically, reading on newegg.com, ppl that can only use pci cards in their boxes were saying that some (newer) pci cards had worse performance than their onboard chips.
