I have a 3rd gen MBP and I installed refit and then rebooted, but refit didnt start. I selected the ubuntu cd anyway (which the pc said was windows) and installed ubuntu onto the 15gig boot camp partition I had made. I restarted and now the option key only shows the mac HD. How do I get into the ubuntu system?

*update* Did a manual install of rEFIt and it is working now. Got the no bootable device error and fixed by use of the sticky and now I am good to go. Just updating in case anyone else has this issue.

If rEFIt didn't work then how did you see the Ubuntu CD labelled as Windows?

Also what do you see when you reboot without holding option?

I agree with the above poster if you use the rEFIt implementation you do not hold any buttons while it is booting. It automatically will come up and show you what is on the machine before it boots all the way. If you use bootcamp then you do have to hold the option to determine how it will boot if you want something different then the default start up disk
