Hi, I am a former windows xp user and I've switched to ubuntu about a month ago. I am getting a less fps compared to back when I used windows, and I am using same settings (same resolution, block high fps models, fps booster rates, same config, same cvars, etc..). And I have uninstalled compiz and am using Metacity. Usually, in maps such as ka_knife and scoutzknivez I get 99 fps constant despite how many people in the server. Now, I get fps drops when there are only 4 people or so in the server. I also am unable to use higher refresh rate then my crt is capable of. On windows I could use a refresh rate of 120hz in 1024x768 "Desktop Resolution", but on ubuntu 8.04, my max is 85hz. I have a Nvidia Geforce 5200 fx video card (pretty old but with my high fps settings, I get good fps), I am using Wine 1.0rc-1, and another problem is the lowest resolution I can use now is 800x600 on cs ( I can go 640x480 when I use virtual desktop, but it doesn't go full screen ). I also checked out the thread "Stuff I've learned about Wine" but nothing seems to work. I've also googled and looked through many guides, same result0. I am getting frustrated with counter-strike on ubuntu. If someone can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it, because other then this problem on cs, I find ubuntu much more effecient and better than Windows Xp.

Note: I had same problem with earlier versions of wine so it's not the new version's fault.
Also, I made sure pixel shader was unchecked.
And, I turned off AS and AF on the NVIDIA X Server Settings and put the Open Gl settings on high performance settings there.

Sorry, also forgot to add in I am using nvidia-glx-new driver and it is up-to-date.

Well I've managed to get cs to work in 640x480 but I'm still getting lower fps.
