video capture error

I am trying to capture video from a sony handycam, I have loaded kino but when I press capture I get:-

WARNING raw1394kernalnot loaded or failure to read/write/dev/r...

I have looked in synaptic and it says that raw1394 is loaded.

Any ideas please

But I keep getting different responses when I type the commands in terminal.
When I type groups I get

S adm dialout cdrom floppy audio dip video plugdev fuse lpadmin admin

I will have another go later
