Anyone have any lucking getting X-Plane 9 running on Ubuntu 7.10 on a Dell 1525N?

I'm running the demo version at this point. I got past one problem where "Could not get to our host!" errors with help from the X-Plane Linux volunteers. I was using DHCP, and apparently until you hardcode your actual system address (not 127.0.0.1) in the /etc/hosts file it won't run.

Now I'm stuck after the demo starts. It zooms in from across the sky to a black square with running lights, at the end of some runway lights stretching out into an empty sky with no other features, such as ground, a runway, etc. I can get a cockpit panel view, but exterior views show a tiny bit of smoke and nothing more. I have reinstalled again with no change in behavior. Any suggestions?

Next I guess I can try the Windows version under Wine or Cedega (I have had no luck with Cedega and the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004, posted in another thread).

Thanks again!
