I recently came across a new (to me) file extension. .daa

A google search told me that it is the "new" .rar and that I needed a program called "PowerISO" in order to burn an image of it to a dvd. I searched for any information on this in the Ubuntu community, but saw nothing.

Does anyone know anything about this? Where I could get PowerISO? Does it work? How is it different from the standard .rar?

According to Wikipedia, .daa is a proprietary kind of image file owned by PowerISO. Luckily, Wikipedia also says, "AcetoneISO is a free software available on Linux which can convert .daa files to ISO and then view them." Go to http://www.acetoneiso.netsons.org/viewpage.php?page_id=2 ; there are packages available for Ubuntu. Then you can convert the image to a normal, open format.
