I like playing a lot of games but I think there needs to be more turn based games like Galactic Civilizations II but not ported to Linux. We need more 100% Linux native game. The type of game we need less of is platform games we need to transport the gamer community to Linux by making awesome games

Can only speak for myself, but considering the mass of single player FPS's in the windows world, I'd like to see more of those myself. I rarely have the time or commitment to get into multiplayer but still enjoy FPS's.

We have a large selection of shooters available, the problem with them is that I think they lack storylines, I kind of enjoy that more than online deathmatch, if I want that I just go play css over wine.

I would like to see more racing games like Need For Speed, Test Drive, Burnout series and RPG games like Gothic series, The Elder Scrolls series, Sacred, Loki, Diablo. I think Linux lack in this games basicly.

I really would like to see my 3D Strategy Games for example something like Heroes of Might and Magic, Age of Empires, Stronghold, and so on. And also a native GNU/Linux MMORPG in 3D graphics would be great, something like Rgenum Online or Similar

i would love to see a client for the forthcoming mmo age of conan. i have already preordered it , thus i am seeing myself logged to my winxp for lvling/playing. but i can still play wow on my linux xD but if guild has ventillo instead of TS2 i have to reboot again, since not valid VT for linux yet, its under development according to the website

Sadly the last part is probably a false statement, its been like that in ages, and the developer deletes any thread about linux support in his forums, plus the real linuxforum is locked for messages.

Dunno what tactical shooters is..but I'll repeat my call for FPS's, but more specifically singleplayer FPS's with a decent storyline and that certain extra that makes it less an exercise in "look how cool we can make this look" to a believeable experience. I get the feeling that we are somewhat along the lines of where windows gaming was in the mid-late 90's and early 2000 when the emphasis was nearly entirely on fancy graphics and "style", and less on story and immersion in the game.
But that's me.

We need more single-player games with a good story and modern graphics. Game genre doesn't really matter; FPS, RPG, adventure... anything would be an improvement over what we have now. There are already way too many multi-player games (especially FPS) and most single-player games lack a good story or graphics (or both).

I'm a huge fan of real time strategy games (StarCraft and WarCraft games, also the new Warhammer 40k games). I would love to see more of those ported so they could run on Linux natively.
Also, first person shooter games like Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 would be great additions.

Native linux client support for existing MMORPGs; certainly some of them run very well under Wine, such as World of Warcraft and Guild Wars, but given the enormous player bases these games develop, and the length of time they are actively played (generally years longer than a comparable single player entity), it would make sense to allow them to infiltrate another market (linux).
As fun as home-brewed solutions, like Planeshift, can be, they don't match the polish of the commercial games like Warcraft.

I'm gonna do my best at some FPS games the coming years will keep in touch

I'm not sure we lack the type of ɡames, I guess it's rather a storyline we're missing.
- For example TORCS is a very nice, includes amazing tracks, BUT it doesn't have a storyline.
- Warsow has great special jumps and an excellent image quality, BUT it doesn't have a storyline (I know it's just a multiplayer FPS but wouldn't it be greater to have a story on the side?).
This list can be extended. The point is this: Every game developer should also include a brainstorming team to create a storyline. I think this is the solution.

A storyline
I think anything that is NOT online, and is NOT like our current FPS games. Seriously, every single one of our FPS games now like Alien Arena, Open Arena, Tremulous, Enemy Territory, etc, etc feels the EXACT same, just with different maps and models.
There are other games like Glest, and Battle for Wesnoth, that are really adding to the RTS and TBS like games, what with Glest getting scenario capability soon. (the Glest team announced it in their forums) So Glest will get really awesome soon. (it's already pretty awesome)
To be precise, we need a single person, RPG (-ish), adventure, in 3rd person/1st person perspective, off-line, modular (not the right word probably, but what I mean is that it isn't one large package, but is made up of lots of packages so that you don't need to download 800mb+ but rather smaller 50-100mb packages in order to at least play a bit, I should blog this), heavy storyline, should be in 3D, takes at LEAST 30 days (playing 4hrs a day) to complete the game.
I would be more than willing to contribute story-wise to a game, it's just most projects seem to be aiming just to make non-story, MMO types of game. I say, forget the online capability, and just focus on making the game fun to be playing alone. Too many MMO's. >.<

Yeah, I agree with that. There are quite a few good multiplayer FPS's out there for linux, but there's really nothing in the single player department. I would like to see a few good story driven single player FPS's for linux. Actually the same goes for 3rd person action adventure games... I guess I would like to see more single player games in general, regardless of the genre.
I really hope that the Valve Steam/ Source engine rumors are true, that would really give single player FPS's a shot in the arm on Linux.
Also, I wouldn't mind seeing more point and click adventure games, but this is a genre that isn't exactly booming on the PC either. It would be non-existent without Telltale games. Plus a good Hockey game on Linux would be kinda nice.
