View Full Version : Is there a way to change the default index inserted by Bibus into a document?

Hello:

I am using Bibus either with OpenOffice or Word and I would like to change the default index that gets inserted into the document.

Other programs, like Endnote, insert something like [Smith et al. ####], which makes the citation intelligible as you are typing and re-editing (without having to reference to the formatted bibliography).

Bibus, in my hands, inserts a number key that makes it impossible to find out what the citation is, unless I format the bibliography and look at the end of the paper.

I've tried unsuccessfully to find out if there is a way to change the default inserted key. I hope someone has had some experience with this.

Thanks.

Switch to the "as in database" style during your editing (you will need to format the bibliography to update within your document). When you are ready to convert to the final format, switch to the appropriate style and format/finalize. I believe one or two other default styles also insert the citations in a manner similar to what you want to see.

Thanks for the response. I did manage to get some of the references looking like I wanted.

I guess the biggest problem is that I imported my database from Endnote and the identifier is a number (probably set by Endnote) while new references added by Bibus have Author+Pub year as the identifier. This is close to what I wanted.

I need to figure out how to change the identifier for the Endnote-imported references or learn to live with it, I guess.
