For anyone who likes survival horrors, thrillers and/or puzzle games, this game is well worth it. Very good graphics, physics that are part of gameplay, amazing sound and athmosphere....
For mature audience only.

Penumbra: Black Plague is a first person horror adventure focussing on story, immersion and puzzle solving. Unlike Penumbra: Overture, violence and combat are not even an option - the player has to use his/her wits to guide Philip through his final test, and this makes the game unique in offering a truly dangerous and terrifying experience.
I just bought it and I don't regret it. It has metacritic rating of 77/100 (critics) and 92/100 (users)

What do you mean ? There's not a single gun in Penumbra: Black Plague. There are no melee weapons either. In most cases you just can't kill the enemies.

You can kill every critter in the game, except some single ones, but you can also do the game without touching any of them. :)
Finished the first game btw., continueing with the second one tonight.

I've been playing it though (demo) and yeah it's scary as hell. The music and sfx and actually very good and well positioned.

You're in for a surprise. I'm pretty far in Penumbra: Black Plague and I only managed to kill 1 creature.

I screened a walkthrough fast (didn't read anything beyond what I had reached), I figured I am about 1/3 through it. Had to take a break since I got too frightened ;).
And hell its good! I must agree with the critics and say that this far its even better than Overture.
Like B0rsuk said, I haven't even been able to deal damage by weapons, like a pickaxe or a hammer as it was possible in the previous edition, and its incredible how it adds to the horror effect!
This far, I can only recommend it.

Can you get far in Penumbra:Overture without killing anything ? I heard the developers didn't really mean you to kill everything. I know you can sometimes set traps and use explosives, but is the game solvable without melee combat (hammer, heavy boxes etc)

Just look at the speedruns, as far as the video I saw, he didn't touch any of them, he just ran pass, so if that is possible then it also will be in normal mode.

I just used
sh PenumbraBlackPlagueDemo-2567.sh
...from a terminal, and chose the option to install it to my home directory. It created a menu item under Games as part of the install.

The GUI way is to right click on the file and select properties, go to permissions, and check the box to make it executable. Then, single or double, depending on your options, left click on the file to run it. It should pop up with a box asking if you want to run it, run it in a terminal, cancel, etc. You can just click "run". I installed my demo to my own user directory/home/myusername/games/PenumbraYou will need root access to install it to secure locations, so I'd recommend putting it someplace like that or some other place that you have user access to.
