Installing New Fonts

Hi folks,
I just saw another thread here giving a link to some cool True Type fonts. I downloaded and extracted these fonts to my home folder, but how do i get them to show up in the Font Selector? - I copied it to ~/.fonts (and it does show up in the list) but font-selector crashes every time i select that font.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in Advance.

I always just drag the fonts into nautilus (fonts:///) and it works ok. That copys the font in your home dir for you.

Maybe try it with some different fonts? dafont.com
