Ok, SO I checked out this video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xC5uEe5OzNQ, and the windows shrinking all cool, doesn't happen on my Compiz, no fire on the screen, no water effects, no sparklies, Cube works, although certainly not a transparent cube, so inshort, though I have everything enabled in Compiz advanced effects only a few things work, wobbly windows, the cube, and drop shadows. That's about it. I'm using an ATI 3850HD with the proprietary fglrx drivers on Gutsy 7.110 (waiting till I hear all the Hardy issues have been resolved). Any advise or info? If I haven't given enough info let me know as I'm pretty keen on getting all this to work so I can show it off to my friends and get them to switch as well.

Even if you check all the boxes you are going to need to configure things. Also, check the key bindings because a lot of them are "enabled" by pressing a key combo. Further, a lot of what you are talking about like the "fire" is in the Animations tab. When opened you need to select which plug-in you want to use for things like minimize windows and so forth. Also, to select a custom background with the "cube" you can do that in Skydome under "Desktop Cube" under Appearance. Further, to configure the "transparent" in the cube, you need to tell it to be transparent in the section for Rotate Cube.
Wouldn't be boring if you couldn't configure it to what you liked? Instead just getting that one setup you saw on Youtube? Certainly nice but nonetheless, I like being able to configure everything. My windows, when I close them vanish into "blackness" (beam w/ black), my minimized windows go up in flames, my opened applications fly into the desktop (via airplane). Anyway, I hope the above helps you.

ahhh, ok too many options for a windows dummy like me. I appreciate the input, I'm finding that though the linux community is great there's nothing like spending a BUNCH of time learning Ubuntu. Especially for lazy gui windows folks like me, I have to unlearn a whole crapload of old windows ways of thinking in order to grasp new linux concepts.

I'm unsure of what I did, I tried to set paint fire to the screen as Alt+Button1, I got an error that it conflicted with "initiate Window Move" I disabled initiate window move and then when trying to click anything with my mouse I got the hand to move the window. The only way I can click links in firefox or x to close windows or spompts is if I hold down control. So I went to Paint fire and set it back to Control+Button one and tried to set initiate window move to Alt+Button1 and initiate window move is disabled now, and to click anything I now need to hold down alt! Please help this is crazy!

Whew, thank God for the Reset to Defaults button! How do I know what the difference between Key and Button is in the menu when enabling or disabling effects initiations? In the below image there is a Key and a Button column, what's the difference?

Then for changing minimize, open, close effects, in animations, there is another column for Window Match, which the effects don't work if (type=Normal | Dialog | ModalDialog | Utility | Unknown) isn't in there. What does all that mean? Thanks for the help in advance!

Maz when you enabled the Airplane did you set the Window Match properties? On Mine I simply copied them from another effect already setup, glide I think it was and pasted it into the Airplane section for it. I really have no idea what those settings do but I found the effects don;t work without them set. That's what I asked above to find out what they meant, if their editable ok what to and if not why have it there as an enterable field? See the link..
