I only see Qt 4.3 in the Hardy repository. Do I have to compile and manually install the latest version? When should I expect it?

You can get the source here:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/hardy/+source/qt4-x11/4.4.0-1ubuntu1~hardy1
Looks like for now you'll have to compile it yourself. I'm waiting for the binary packages as well :KS

It is in backports as far as I can see. So if you enable the backports repository, you get it. It seems to be doing something ugly to my Skype icon in the notification area, though.

Skype for me is a bit messed up too. My issue was the mirror I was using was not up to date. I switched from imbrandon to MIT and all is well.
