Hey everybody,

How do I get a gnome splash screen after I log in? I seems to take ages in between logging in and getting on with using my pc (OK, only a few seconds - but lots of dead screen time). I used to have a splash screen in older versions of gnome and KDE, I want one in ubuntu 8.04.

Cheers

You should be able to enable the splash screen by starting gconf-editor from the terminal and going to /apps/gnome-session/options and selecting show_splash_screen.
