hey people....

1) is swap space really necessary?
2) does it realy speed up my sistem as some people say?
3) when you're installing the OS, does it format or erase everything from the partition you chose as swap?
4) can I enable the swap space after I have installed the OS?

thanks a lot for your help!

1). necessary? well thats arguable, but it's certainly useful..

2). how longs a piece of string? depends on your system specs. It's basically virtual memory by another name. Iirc, you can change how likely your computer is to use it, i.e. it will try to use all of your ram beofre it uses the swap space kind of thing. Don't ask me how though, can't remember ;)

3). iirc, it does not format the partition, but since you are repartitioning, you will use any data, unless you use some kind of recovery toll.

4). Not sure on that one, but I have a sneaking suspicion that yes, you can. Could be wrong mind :D
