search the package manager for chm. I there's one in there because I use it.

Sadly I am away from my ubuntu machine. :sad:

I'd suggest the program xchm. It's what i use to read those... (which is not often , if at all) It's in the repos. Take care!

In gnome try CHM Viewer, in KDE try kchm. There is also extension for Firefox to view chm files directly in FF, and you can also convert the chm files to PDF.

kchm for Kubuntu,gnochm for Ubuntu,xhcm for Xubuntu. IIRC kchm is not in the repos so you'll have to search for it. Even though I've given you the Window manager specific versions you can run any of them, it just requires a few extra packages if you run the version not designed for your window manager.

If you're using 8.04 (Hardy) or maybe an older version of Ubuntu, just try clicking this -

apt:gnochm
