I recently purchased a Serp4 and have upgraded to 8.04 and, when I burn a CD by right mouse clicking on an ISO and selecting "write to disk" I get a message pop up in the task bar warning that the laptop can not power down with the lid closed and overheating can occur. this has happened to me every single time that I do this. Has anyone else experienced this?

That's normal. Here is the message in its entirety.
Sleep warning. Your laptop will not sleep if you shut the lid as a running program has prevented this. Some laptops can overheat if they do not sleep when the lid is closed.
It's just saying that since the computer is being used to burn a disk, it will not go to sleep if you close the lid (which would happen if you had it set to do so in System > Preferences > Power Management). So, it is overriding that functionality.
And on some laptops, not sleeping when the lid is closed can lead to overheating.
No biggie.
