View Full Version : [ubuntu] hardy heron selective sound problems

hey guys, ive been through a dozen sound posts, but cant seem to find a solution.

Ok in 7.10 everything worked great, now in 8.04 i cannot get sound to work when i play amarok, movie player, mplayer or vlc, or rhythm box. however I can play videos through youtube just fine, and ive gone to system-prefrences-sound, and changed all the options to alsa which then tests ok and gives me sound. still no luck in any of the above players though. This works for both movies and songs. Ive also downloaded the extra plugins so they should all work.

also i think there is a video problem related. In Mplayer or Movie player, video is jerky, much like a slide show. in VLC, however the same videos are fine. neither have sound though.

any help would be much appreciated!

Try going through this (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=205449), then get back to us.

EDIT: oh, for videos, try this (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=766683) one.
