I'm running the latest Ubuntu and Rhythmbox versions, and have installed the gstreamer plugins. I am able to play FLAC files using movie player (which is also the default player for them), but am unable to open them using Rhythmbox. Either "Open With" or manually adding the file fails (not with an error, it just doesn't do anything).
Any idea where the problem may lie?

have you installed the Ubuntu restricted extras and the gstreamer from add remove, personally I install vlc for the library even though I don't really use it. Add Remove installations are more comprehensive. Flac plays fine in my rhythmbox.
