Ok so I was following this tutorial:
http://ubuntology.com/2007/10/27/access-your-phone-via-bluetooth-with-ubuntu-gutsy/
except im using hardy instead. The last time I tried htis it was with gusty same thing happened. I was waiting for hardy to see if it would fix itself.

I have the same phone LG VX8300

I followed it exactly, when I paired with my computer from my phone, the computer went unresponsive no mouse, nothing worked the screen froze and my music just kept repeating the same noise. over and over. one interesting thing is that the Number lock and Scroll lock lights started flashing. untill i had to push the button to shut down.

I was thinking about a bluetooth mouse but am scared that it wont work. is any one else having these problems? or know how to fix them? I have only tried ti twice because it seems like such a shock to my computer when it doesn't work.

I have not tried to connect a phone via Bluetooth, but I do have a Bluetooth mouse and it works without problems, and was easy to set up. See http://jesperdj.pbwiki.com/Ubuntu-on-the-Dell-XPS-M1530

I have an HTC Mogul and Bluetooth is working fine as far as sending and receving files between my phone and laptop. I have not tried to sync contacts yet. I also have a Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 and that also works flawlessly .

Just for reference, I have a Dell XPS M1530 Ubuntu Hardy Preinstalled. I had this problem when I first tried to connect my lg vx 8350 via bluetooth. once i gave it permission to connect, the computer freezed up. however, when i rebooted and tried to reconnect, it worked, perfectly. disconnected, then reconnected...it works. transfers files and all. anybody know why it freezes up the first connect?
